The Daily Challenge Day 8 - The Unbearable Lightness of Being

The following is from Wikipedia- in describing the Czech novel "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Milan Kundera:

"The unbearable Lightness has an important and barely concealed subtitle; the Unbearable Heaviness of Being. The question posed to these two pairs of lovers is which decisions they can make given that they will only live once. Tomas is bound to a feeling that nothing matters, that life has the lightness of mortality. His love is an unasked for intervention in his wandering. For Tereza, life has all the weight of the earth. She feels bound to every feeling, feels the force of gravity behind her tears. The two meet by chance and love by chance. For Tomas, this is his torment. Over and again, he feels that he could just as well have lived another life. He is haunted by the incarnations of himself he will never know. In the end, he discovers that the secret all along has been that the burden he feels is not that he can never know the other lives. Rather, the burden is that he does know this life. Life is unbearably heavy because it is only lived once. Chance necessitates a terrible urgency and awe-inspiring amazement at the course upon which decisions set one's life. Because we live once, everything matters."

You can take that as deeply as you wish... The challenge isn't necessarily to ponder the complexities of this Post Modern work of existentialism. Rather take from it the meaning in your own life. Existentialists believe that we frame who we are- that we shape our lives and our destinies.

The challenge for today: Step lightly. Today you touch yourself often. You may have as many enjoyment as you wish. You may spend all day naked, stimulating yourself if you wish. But there is a catch.

Today you treat your genitalia, all the parts of you which are sensitive very gently; as though they were fragile. Only the lightest touches today. It's not just that these are eggs under your hands... Your delicate parts are truly delicate- think fine china or a living flower. There is no choking the chicken today. No pounding your vagina like a brutal keyboard. In fact, there is no grasping, holding, or even thrusting. There is the most gentle caresses and touches. If, through these delicate ministrations, you reach your climax, than you should do so. If not- there is always the next day... and how that shapes up will be up to you...
